Nathan Bicks represents clients across a broad spectrum of dealings with government. As a litigator, his practice focuses on complex litigation, with particular emphasis on white collar crime, healthcare fraud, and commercial disputes. He has extensive experience in defending individuals and companies under federal investigation, including directing internal investigations, negotiating non-prosecution and plea agreements, developing corporate compliance programs, and representing clients at trial. Mr. Bicks also has experience in regulatory affairs and represents clients at all levels of federal, state, governmental agencies and boards, particularly in land use matters, where  he widely-recognized as one of the region’s leading practitioners. Mr. Bicks serves as Town Attorney for the Town of Collierville, one of Tennessee’s fastest-growing municipalities.

He has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers in the area of healthcare law for his work in defending healthcare fraud cases. The publication The Best Lawyers® in America lists him in the areas of commercial litigation, criminal defense – white collar, land use & zoning law, litigation – land use & zoning law, litigation – municipal law, and the “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation-Municipal in the Memphis area. Mr. Bicks frequently makes presentations at seminars on regulatory issues. From 1979-82, he served as press secretary and legislative assistant to U.S. Representative Harold Ford, Sr. in Washington. He presently serves on the firm’s Management Committee.

Mr. Bicks has served on the boards of many civic and philanthropic institutions:  Memphis Brooks Museum of Art (President, Counsel), LeMoyne-Owen College (Executive Committee), Theatre Memphis, Memphis Heritage Inc., Goodwill Boys’ Club, Memphis Jewish Housing Development Corporation (Counsel), Memphis Jewish Community Center (President, Counsel), and the Bornblum Solomon Schechter School (President, Counsel).

  • Represented a global ecommerce company in the development of an ecommerce fulfilment center in the Memphis area. Involved obtaining land use and other governmental approvals.
  • Represented world’s largest athletic shoe and apparel company in obtaining land use and other governmental approvals for development of large warehouse fulfillment center.
  • Negotiated agreements with municipal authorities for the creation and development of a public space/park for new infill development in downtown Memphis.
  • Represented developers in high profile mixed use developments in midtown Memphis, including the Citizen on Union and Overton Gateway on East Parkway/Sam Cooper Boulevard.
  • Lead attorney in landmark federal litigation to establish 6 municipal school districts.
  • Counsel to major medical device manufacturers in major healthcare fraud investigations, including internal investigations and interfacing with Government prosecutors.
  • Counsel to major pharmacy benefits manager in healthcare fraud prosecution.
  • Represented several high profile public figures, including elected officials and celebrities, in criminal investigations.
  • Represented municipality of Collierville for over twenty years in its growth and development into one the fastest-growing communities in Tennessee.
  • Represented multiple municipalities in Shelby County (Memphis, Germantown, Lakeland) in both the development of laws and policies and as litigation counsel.
  • Counsel for national pharmacy chain and its related entities in the opioid litigation throughout Tennessee.
  • Counsel for national pharmacy benefits manager and related entities in suit involving allegations of antitrust and common law tort claims against drug manufacturer and others in distribution chain.
